Microbiologist at Public Health Lab    Flu is a serious, contagious disease.
Each year, seasonal flu kills some 36,000 Americans. But there is a new and very different flu virus spreading worldwide that was first confirmed in the United States in April, 2009 and affects younger people more severely than seasonal flu does. H1N1 Flu, sometimes called “Swine Flu,” is a new strain that has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. Most people recover quickly from H1N1 Flu, but it has caused severe illness and deaths.

THANKYOU TO OUR STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, & THE COMMUNITY!
On January 15th, we completed the final clinic in our series of 35 free H1N1 clinics for the community that started November 16th. We couldn't have done it without the hundreds of community volunteers who helped us vaccinate more than 42,000 people in the three months of the clinics. Our mobile clinics have ended, but we're working to find a fixed location for walk-in vaccinations. Watch for an announcement in the near future!
