
Microbiologist at Public Health Lab H1N1 flu is a serious, contagious disease
H1N1 flu was first confirmed in the United States in April, 2009. In the year since it first appeared, H1N1 flu has sickened an estimated 60-million people in the U.S., hospitalized some 265,000 people, and killed about 12,000. H1N1 was declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. Most people recover quickly from H1N1 Flu, but it has caused severe illness and deaths.
